Ferrari 458 Speciale A

One of the most important shows in the automotive calendar is for sure the Paris Motor Show or Mondial de l’Automobile. This is the event where you can see many world debuts for both production cars and concept vehicles. Some of the best cars presented at this year’s Paris Motor Show were Bentley Mulsanne Speed, Maserati Alfieri, Lamborghini Asterion, Volkswagen XL Sport and Infiniti Q80 Inspiration.

Ferrari also chose to present new supercar at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Ferrari 458 Speciale A is the most powerful convertible ever produced by the Italian manufacturer. Talking about its name we have to mention the additional A which comes from the Italian word Aperta, meaning “open.” Ferrari 458 Speciale A will be produced in a limited edition of 499 units.
Ferrari Speciale A boasts 597bhp at 9000rpm and 398lb ft of torque at 6000rpm. Powered by a 605hp V8, the car rockets from 0 to 100km/h in just 3 seconds. The retractable hard top retracts and deploys in just 14 seconds.

The car was presented in a yellow body with a Blue Nart and Bianco Avus stripe running from nose to tail, an homage to Luigi Chinetti’s legendary American racing team which won many endurance classics in the 1960s in Ferraris. The cockpit has a matching yellow color for the seats along with Alcantara, and the door panels, center tunnel and tread plates will be covered in blue carbon fiber.

The Waldorf Astoria sold for $1.95 billion

Hilton Worldwide is selling its famously called “the greatest of them all”, the Waldorf Astoria hotel, to Chinese insurance company Anbang Insurance Group Co. for $1.95 billion. This definitely put the Waldorf Astoria on a list of most expensive hotel ever sold in the U.S.

The Waldorf Astoria New York, on Park Avenue in Manhattan opened in 1931. At the time it was the tallest and largest hotel in the world. As part of the deal, Hilton will continue to operate the property for 100 years and the hotel will undergo a major renovation. The iconic hotel was featured in a 1945 film staring Ginger Rogers called “Week-end at the Waldorf,” and it features the most elite New York’s restaurants such as Peacock Alley, Bull and Bear Prime Steakhouse and Oscar’s. Its $1,000-per-week Suite 2728 was home to Marilyn Monroe in 1955 after she left behind her troubled life in Hollywood.

“This relationship represents a unique opportunity for our organizations to work together to finally maximize the full value of this iconic asset on a full city block in Midtown Manhattan,” said Christopher J. Nassetta, president and chief executive of Hilton Worldwide.

Designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, the first 13-story Waldorf Hotel was opened on March 1893 at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 33rd Street, on the site where millionaire developer William Waldorf Astor had his mansion.

Maserati MC12

James Edition added a stunning Maserati MC12 for sale. Finished in the distinctive two-tone white and blue, this powerful two-seater costs €1.3 million. Worldwide has been only 50 cars ever build. The car entered production in 2004 with 25 cars produced. This unique 2007 Maserati MC12 has run only 560 miles.

The MC12 exceeded 205 mph at full throttle, sprinting from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The car is powered by a Ferrari Enzo derived 6.0 litre V12 coupled to a 6 speed paddle-shift transmission. Maserati designed and built the car on the chassis of the Enzo Ferrari. Compared with the Enzo Ferrari which can reach the top speed of 350 kilometers per hour (217.5 mph), the MC12 is slightly different with a top speed of 330 kilometers per hour (205 mph). The MC12 competed in the FIA GT toward the end of the 2004 season, winning the race held at the Zhuhai International Circuit.

The interior of the car is also very unique and it features a mix of gel-coated carbon fiber, blue leather and silver “Brightex”. The body of the car is made of carbon fibre. It has 480 millimetre (19 in) wheels with a width of 230 millimetres (9 in) at the front and 330 millimetres (13 in) at the rear. This a great opportunity to become the owner of this celestial car, which looks fantastic and represents one of the most remarkable Maserati’s achievements.

Historic Villa Maria Estate in Water Mill

Villa Maria in Water Mill, New York was built as a private residence in 1887. This magnificent waterfront estate has glorious views of Mecox Bay. The present owners purchased this spectacular property in 2005 and began a 6-year project to restore the home into a splendid 21st century estate.

Frank Freeman transformed the house-it doubled in size, and acquired a large living wing, two story staircase in a grand entrance hall, and added leafy stone capitals copied from an ancient Greek clock tower and a ballroom crowned by deep coffers. The property is listed for sale and the asking price is $69 million. The residence is offered on 11 acres with a waterside pool, pool cabana, tennis court and a wonderful two-bedroom guesthouse.

The residence has been expanded to 22,000 square feet, with 11 bedrooms- including a glorious 6-room master suite, with a custom marble tub in the master bathroom. Villa Maria also features a handmade stone and wrought iron staircase and a stunning 60 foot living room with original fresco details.

“The idea was restrained elegance—to modernize the house completely but without touch screens everywhere,” says the architect Andre Tchelistcheff, who has worked for four years on the restoration of this beautiful estate. There is also a large stone terrace overlooking the wide lawn and bay.

Montblanc Metamorphosis II

Montblanc is a German manufacturer of writing instruments, watches, jewellery and leather goods, founded by the stationer Claus-Johannes Voss, the banker Alfred Nehemias and the engineer August Eberstein in 1906. The rich history of outstanding products stands behind this well-known company. Recently the Montblanc has presented a new version of its famed two-faced timekeeper named Metamorphosis.

Originally launched in 2010 as the first of the Timewriter Metamorphosis, it was the world’s first wrist watch that comprised overlaid dials, which open majestically like a theatre curtain. The Metamorphosis II took four years to develop, and now here it is finally as a limited edition of 18 pieces in 18K red gold. One face of the watch shows the time and date while the other acts as a chronograph. The transformation takes just five seconds!

There are two lowered silvered sub-dials on the face. Once the wearer pulls the slide a change occurs on the face. The center of the dial remains the same but the changes actually happen at top and bottom of the dial where the appearance of the sub-counters is completely changed. It is an enormously complex module built on the MB 67.40 chronograph movement. 494 movement’s constituent parts of 746 are for the transforming mechanism.

Crafted entirely by hand, Metamorphosis II is pure piece of art. The watch has a 52 mm round case which is compensated with a curved profile. The Metamorphosis II is priced at 404,800 Singapore dollars, equivalent to US$317,000.

Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4

Last week, Lamborghini introduced their newest hybrid super car called Asterion LPI 910-4. They named it after a Greek mythological creature, the “LP” stands for “longitudinal posterior,” while the “910-4″ refers to its combined horsepower and all-wheel-drive train.

The Asterion LPI 910-4 starts with a 5.2-liter, naturally aspirated V-10 engine that outputs a stated 610-horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque and adds a trio of electric motors. Total power when all of the electric motors and the V-10 are working in concert is stated at 910 horsepower. The Asterion LPI 910-4 can reach 62 mph in three seconds flat and a top speed of 199 miles per hour. But it can also drive on electric power alone –for 50km anyway and at speeds of up to 125km/h.

“Lamborghini continues to focus on weight reduction as a means to reducing CO2, for example through the investment in carbon fiber engineering, which also contributes to our quest for the best super sports car handling and performance.”

“To significantly reduce emissions on a car in this moment however, plug-in electrification is the best option for us, because for Lamborghini such a car must still provide a truly emotional driving experience,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

The design of the car is very powerful and its curved nose evokes memories of the Miura and 400GT.

Zaha Hadid has unveiled her latest design for a series of riverside towers in Brisbane, Australia. The Pritzker Prize winner’s proposal comprises three magnificent towers. “Our vision is to create a vibrant urban village which sensitively activates its urban and riverfront context through compelling architecture and landscape design,” said Sunland Managing Director, Sahba Abedian.

The ‘Blooming’ towers in Australia would hold 486 apartments and eight riverfront villas. The $420 million project is being proposed by property developer Sunland Group. The property will also include 7,300 square meters of landscaped public parkland in the area of Toowong.

“The design tapers each structure to minimize their footprint and open the riverfront to the public; creating a vibrant civic space for Toowong within a new riverside park,” said Hadid.
You probably remember the amazing yacht concept by this extremely talented architect. The City of Dreams Hotel Tower in Macau is another of her fantastic projects which will house 780 guestrooms, suites and sky villas!

McLaren 625C

McLaren introduced its first regionally tailored model exclusively for the Asian market. The 625C ( ‘C’ standing for ‘Club’ ) is a slightly less powerful version of the 650S set to be offered in both coupe and spider versions.

The 625C is powered by McLaren’s familiar 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine outputting 625 HP (460 kW) at 7,250 rpm and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm. The company says it has “an increased focus on day-to-day usability and comfort”. The 625C is equipped with new dampers and a revised suspension setup (including softer spring rates at the rear). There are also new brakes, which are cast-iron discs instead of the carbon fiber-ceramic units found on the 650S.

The car looks pretty much the same as its powerful predecessor 650S. The front end is inspired by McLaren’s new hybrid supercar. McLaren 625C will hit 62mph in 3.1 seconds that’s 0.1 of a second slower than a 650S, while the top speed remains the same at 207mph.

Both coupe and spider versions of the 625C will go on sale, and the model will initially launch in Hong Kong, and other countries in the Asia Pacific region will get the cars in the following months.

Prince George receives world's most expensive birthday card

Hand-painted Bombardier Challenger aircraft for Prince George’s first birthday is thought to be the most expensive birthday card ever created. The design was made by award winning British design studio Andrew Winch Designs, who specializes in aviation, yachts and architecture. “We have been involved in the interior design of many jets and yachts as well as some incredible buildings, but our work on wishing Prince George a happy first birthday has been one of our most fun assignments,“ said Jim Dixon, Head of Aviation at Andrew Winch Designs.

The Bombardier Challenger has been repainted in Oxford, and ti’s covered from its tip to its tail with ‘Happy Birthday Prince George’. Costing around £120,000, the company Hangar8 believe that this is the world’s most expensive birthday card since one painted by artist Damien Hirst, valued at around £30,000.

“In just a year, we estimate that Prince George has travelled around 33,000 ‘heir miles’ when he went to the Caribbean island of Mustique on holiday and then on his official trip to New Zealand and Australia,“ said Dustin Dryden, Chief Executive Officer of Hangar8.

The Challenger is a family of mid-sized business jets. Aircraft include Bombardier Challenger 600 series (the original family of business jets, with the CL-600, CL-601, CL-604, and CL-605), Bombardier Challenger 300 (business jet, originally called the Bombardier Continental) and Bombardier Challenger 800/850, a business jet derived from the CRJ-200. Bombardier’s Challenger family of aircraft provides a lot of outstanding comfort, proven efficiency and reliability, and enhanced performance competencies.
